Honduras stood out on the global stage at the 12th Chocolate Festival, underscoring its dedication to showcasing cocoa and chocolate culture. The vibrant celebration occurred in Tabasco, Mexico, emphasizing Honduras' pivotal role in promoting cocoa production.

12th Chocolate Festival Tabasco

The festival kicked off with inspiring opening ceremonies and insightful conferences, featuring representatives from the Mayan World Organization's five member countries: Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, with Italy as the distinguished guest. Discussions ranged from tourist destinations and gastronomy to cocoa and chocolate production, showcasing the rich tapestry of products stemming from these regions.

Honduras at Chocolate Festival

Vice Minister of Tourism, Reizel Vilorio, and four prominent Honduran companies—Atucún, Mayak Chocolate, Serendipia, and Catrachas Tours—represented Honduras at the event. Together, they championed cocoa and its derivatives, boosting international visibility and demand. Honduras, recognized as the second-largest cocoa producer in Central America, held a special place in the hearts of chocolate lovers, as highlighted by National Geographic, which dubbed it the birthplace of chocolate.

This strategic initiative aimed to diversify the country's economy, generate income, and solidify Honduras as a key player in the worldwide cocoa and chocolate production landscape.
